The House of Representatives (HoR) has endorsed the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (third amendment) bill on Wednesday.
A majority of the HoR members endorsed the proposal seeking consideration on the CIAA (third amendment) bill, 2077 BS that was received from the National Assembly (NA) with message.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma presented the bill in today's HoR meeting on behalf of Prime Minster Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Responding to the queries by the lawmakers on the proposal, Minster Sharma underlined the need to amend the act for effectively preventing corruption in the context of changes in its forms.
The appointments would be made in the commission merely in line with the constitutional arrangement, she said, assuring the House that the matters left in the amendment proposal would be included in course of the clause-wise discussion.
"We would frame the law as per the constitutional arrangement", Minister Sharma said, adding, "We are thinking to prosper the bill complying with the constitutional scope and limitation".
Taking part in the deliberation on the bill were Dr Amresh Kumar Singh, Madhav Sapkota, Sumana Shrestha, Ranju Kumari Jha, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, Rajendra Pandey, Raghujee Panta, Badri Prasad Pandey, Gyan Bahadur Shahi, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Ram Krishna Yadav and Metmani Chaudhary.
Lawmakers, Sher Bahadur Kunwar, Lekhnath Dahal, Nagina Yadav, Asim Saha, Prem Suwal, Dielndra Prasad Badu, Yogendra Madal, Gyanu Basnet Subedi, Ram Prakash Chaudhary, Roshan Karki, Anita Devi, Ain Bahadur Shahi, Dayal Bahadur Shahi and Tejulal Chaudhary also took part in the deliberation on the anti-graft bill.
In the meeting, Speaker Debraj Ghimire had read out a letter received from the Office of the President informing that the Deputy Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka was designated the portfolio of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was looking after the ministry affairs.
Next meeting of the HoR shall take place at 1.00 pm on April 24.
