Chancellor of Madan Bhandari Academy of Health Sciences and Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Dormani Poudel has said that the Province Government was working to run the academic programme with new vigour to produce qualitative, research-based and skilled human resources for the development of the country’s health sector.
Addressing a programme organised to commence the academic calendar of the Academy here on Monday, he assured to thoroughly implement the upcoming policy and programme of the Academy with a focus on academic activities and research works.
The Chief Minister said that the Academy was established with a view to producing skilled human resources and not meeting the partisan political interests.
He also said that plans are afoot to run classes of MBBS in the Province Capital of Hetauda.
On the occasion, Social Development Minister of Bagmati Province, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of the Academy, Sarswoti Basnet said time has come to work for making country self-reliant by developing sufficient health infrastructure in the long run.
Academy’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Bishowraj Joshi pledged to work for the production of specialists and experts in the area of public health, pharmacy, laboratory and other areas of the medical sector.
On the occasion, a memorandum of understanding was reached between Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre’s Director Dr Chandra Mani Adhikari and Academy’s Vice-Chancellor Joshi for the treatment of heart disease.
The Academy last month received a license from the Federal Government’s Medical Education Commission to run classes up to Bachelor’s Level. The Academy will conduct classes on public health, pharmacy and medical lab technology from this academic year, according to Academy’s Administrative Officer Amar Adhikari. It has allocated 20 seats in public health, 30 in pharmacy and 30 in medical lab technology.
