A demonstration took place in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur district, on Sunday where locals rallied for the release of Bipin Joshi, who is believed to be held captive by the Palestinian extremist group, Hamas.
The demonstration, which included Joshi’s family, marched from Madan Chowk to the District Administration Office, where a memorandum was submitted to the Minister for Foreign Affairs via the Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur.
Joshi, an eighth-semester student at Sudurpaschim University’s Tikapur Campus, had travelled to Israel under the ‘Learn and Earn’ program two months prior. He has been missing since an attack in Southern Israel on October 7, with his current location unknown.
Joshi’s parents made emotional pleas for their son’s return. “Please, give back my son,” implored Bipin’s mother. His father, Mahananda Joshi, expressed hope in the government’s efforts to rescue their son.
Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari assured that the government was making every effort to secure Joshi’s release. The demonstrators called on the government, UN agencies, and human rights activists to aid in Joshi’s rescue mission.
