Police have arrested a man with about a kg of gold jewelry from Khajura in Banke district.
According to the District Police Office, Banke, 28-year-old Ashok Bahadur Singh has been arrested with valuable gold from Subedi Chowk, Khajura Gaonpalika Ward No. 2. A joint police team of Area Police Office Dhanauli and Radhapur arrested Singh while he was walking suspiciously. He was chased and arrested by police while trying to flee as soon as he saw them.
A search of Singh's black bag turned up various gold jewelry. According to the police, the value of the jewelry recovered is estimated at Rs 6.2 million. A preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Singh had stolen from a gold shop in Bangalore, India on April 19. Necessary investigations are underway in coordination with the Indian police.
According to the police, the names of the victims have been kept secret as the investigation has been affected and other persons involved have not been arrested.
