In order to protect maternal and infant health, Chhathar Jorpati rural municipality has started a pregnancy nutrition and baby care program with the vice president.
This program has been re-introduced after modifying the maternity care program that was previously run by the vice president. Nutritious food is being given to pregnant women, but from this time cash will be given in IAKA.
Pregnant women will get Rs 9,000 in the first installment of Rs 3,000 and the second installment of Rs 6,000 after undergoing eight pregnancy tests at the health institution. Sundarman Dangol, head of the health branch of the municipality, informed that this service will be provided for the second child who is a permanent resident in the municipality.
The municipality has allocated a budget of Rs 2.2 million for the program this year. Municipality head Gita Gurung (Khewa) informed that the municipality has started the program by including the policies and programs of the current financial year 2022/23.
According to the municipality, this amount will provide significant support to women in poor economic conditions to improve their health and that of their children. Chairman Subba informed that the program has been implemented since last July after preparing the procedures.
