Newly-reappointed Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung has pledged to complete all those incomplete tasks in the sector of telecommunications, mass communication and postal services among others.
Assuming the office following the administration of the oath of office and secrecy on Friday, Minister Gurung approved the ‘Nepal Television Prosperity Journey’ programme that will be broadcasted from Nepal Television.
Taking up the office for the second time today, Minister Gurung claimed that his first stint remained undisputed and he was committed to his responsibilities this time as well.
On a different note, Minister Gurung underscored the need for a collective and coordinated effort to prevent and control COVID-19 and to treat the infected ones.
According to him, he had all necessary cooperation from all the line agencies and organizations in his first stint as the Communication Minister and he was hopeful that he would be able to carry out the ongoing projects in their cooperation.
On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Hari Prasad Basyal shared that Minister Gurung had spearheaded many works aimed at reforming and overhauling the system in his nine-month-long stint earlier.
Many of the projects initiated by Minister Gurung were halted since the staffers got infected with COVID-19, shared Basyal, urging the mass media to rightly inform the public at the time of health crisis like this.
He was of the view that the mass media should aware and educate people about health safety protocols to be followed to prevent infection.
