Minister Dahal insists on delivering service effectively

POKHARA: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal directed the staffers at the Department of Roads for performing effectively as per the government's policies.

In the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop regarding operation and management of projects at Pokhara today, Minister Dahal underscored diligence in delivery to accelerate developmental efforts thereby achieving economic prosperity.

He also urged the staffers to manage ongoing sick projects effectively and ensure that the new projects are accelerated. Minister Dahal pledged for facilitation on the part of his Ministry for addressing policy challenges if any and reassured the employees to deliver with good intent and not to harbor fear of any facing undue repercussions.

The Minister highlighted the need to ensure that sustainable and safe infrastructures are built as, he added, 'Nepal is still in its construction phase." The Minister also drew the attention of p participants towards prioritizing projects based on the need and utility besides urging to pay attention towards quality of the project.

According to him, the Ministry's priority was to prevent delays in execution of the under construction and proposed projects.

Similarly, Keshav Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, instructed the Chiefs of relevant offices and projects to maintain record keeping and organize the projects.

Ramhari Pokharel, Director General of Department of Roads, shared that similar workshop be organized across the country to improve dynamism and effectiveness of employees.

17-points commitments and directives

The workshop concluded with 17-points commitments and directives for the employees for effective execution of under construction projects. The directives include maintaining record systematically and sending regular updates about the projects to the Department of Roads.

Commitments include giving impetus to 'sick' projects and accelerate the ongoing projects.

Minister Dahal called for strict adherence to the 17-points commitments and directives while Secretary Sharma said that the Ministry will oversee the adherence of these commitments and directives and will implement 'reward and punishment' based on the outcomes of the compliance of the above-mentioned commitments.
