Minister Jwala directs to prompt resumption of traffic

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, has instructed the bodies concerned to make the life of the citizens easier by immediately constructing the roads and bridges damaged due to rain-triggered disasters.

He issued the directive to the subordinate bodies to immediately collect the details of the damage resulting in the physical infrastructure sector following the incessant rains and to promptly start the reconstruction of the damaged structures.

Continuous rains since Monday afternoon have resulted in losses of life and property in various places of the country. The Minister has instructed the bodies concerned to promptly collect information on the damage caused to the roads, bridges and the transport sector across the country.

The Bhimdatta Highway connecting the seven hilly districts of the Sudurpaschim Province has sunk at several locations following the incessant rain. The Department of Roads said landslides have occurred at various places. Vehicular movement on the highway has come to a complete halt due to this.

Minister Jwala has directed the Department to promptly swing into action for the reconstruction of the Bhimdatta road and resume traffic.

The Butwal-Palpa Road has been obstructed due to a landslide occurred near the main gate to the north of the under-construction Siddhababa tunnel way in Palpa district. Minister Jwala has instructed the directors of the related sectors to immediately bring the traffic back into operation.

Santamaya Syangtan was killed as she was hit by landslip at Sigre of Bagmati Rural Municipality in Makawanpur.

Among the highways damaged due to floods and landslide, four national highways still remain blocked till the filing of this news, according to the Department.
