Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati has expressed deep sorrow over the Manang Air helicopter crash in Solukhumbu district on Tuesday.
Talking to media persons in Janakpurdham on Tuesday, Minister Kirati extended heartfelt tributes to those killed in the helicopter crash and expressed condolence to the bereaved families.
Six people-five Mexicans and a Nepali pilot-were onboard the helicopter that crashed at Lamjura Pass of Likhupike rural municipality-5 in the district.
Kirati said that he had urged one and all related to aviation to ensure implementing the 'Safety First' policy to make Nepali sky safer as soon as he assumed the office.
He assured to launch an investigation into today's crash forming an investigation committee and find out the reason behind the crash."Although it is not in our control what would happen in the sky, there is a government policy to observe utmost precautions to prevent accidents occurring from technical or other issues."
The chopper with call sign 9 NA-MV had flown from Surke in Solukhumbu to Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. It went incommunicado after 10:01 am and was later found crashed.
