The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday reported 1,103 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 789,872. Additionally, 373 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded nine deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. As of Friday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,081. Presently, there are 20,287 active cases in Nepal. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 364 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 256 cases, Lalitpur logged 73 cases and Bhaktapur logged 35 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 1,550 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Friday, a total of 758,504 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 96.3 per cent while the case fatality rate is at 1.4 per cent.
As of Friday, a total of 4,146,783 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 20,287 persons staying in isolation while 244 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
Meanwhile, 2,664,963 people have been administered the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccines and 1,498,321 others have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 3,715,623 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 3,002,198 others have received the second dose as of September 24, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Similarly, a total of 1,445,503 persons — 194,293 in Province 1; 315,274 in Province 2; 349,003 in Bagmati Province; 122,158 in Gandaki Province; 254,074 in Lumbini Province, 72,330 in Karnali Province and 138,371 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines. Out of taget population 2,175,6763, 27.3 per cent has been fully vaccinated while 29.3 per cent has been administered the first dose of vaccine.
More than 230.4 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 4,928,000 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 48 countries.
