The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday confirmed the detection of 10,254 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 904,796. Additionally, 2,042 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 16 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Saturday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,651. Presently, there are 72,862 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 5,306 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 3,762 cases, Lalitpur logged 1,110 cases and Bhaktapur logged 434 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 708 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Saturday, a total of 820,283 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 90.7 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.
Earlier, the MoHP on Friday confirmed the detection of 10,703 new cases of coronavirus infection.
As of Saturday, a total of 5,108,285 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 72,862 people staying in isolation while 149 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
