The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed the detection of 5,583 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 957,570. Additionally, 1,926 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 9 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,752. Presently, there are 74,653 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 1,907 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 1,404 cases, Lalitpur logged 308 cases and Bhaktapur logged 195 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 8,267 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 871,165 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 91.0 percent while the fatality rate is 1.3 percent.
Earlier, the MoHP on Monday confirmed the detection of 3,472 new cases of coronavirus infection.
As of Tuesday, a total of 5,240,650 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 73,178 people staying in isolation while 137 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
