The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 1,353 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 633,679. Additionally, 567 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 34 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Sunday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 9,009. Presently, there are 40,336 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 424 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 292 cases, Lalitpur logged 100 cases and Bhaktapur logged 32 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As per the health ministry, a total of 9,836 tests were done in the past 24 hours. Of them, 6,000 were RT-PCR test while 3,836 were Antigen tests.
As many as 3,007 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, a total of 584,334 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 92.2 per cent.
As of Sunday, a total of 3,323,039 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 40,339 persons staying in isolation while 367 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 180.92 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 4,077,542 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019, December, a Reuters tally showed as of 04:57 pm, on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
