MoHP reports 290 new COVID cases, 3 deaths on Tuesday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday confirmed the detection of 290 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 826,206. Additionally, 38 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.

Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 3 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,577. Presently, there are 5,242 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 146 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 90 cases, Lalitpur logged 38 cases and Bhaktapur logged 18 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.

As many as 232 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 809,387 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 98 percent while the fatality rate is 1.4 percent.

Earlier, the MoHP Monday had reported 220 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 825,954.

As of Tuesday, a total of 4,784,231 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 4,993 people staying in isolation while 94 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 275.815 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5,377,168 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019-December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 60 countries where The United States is the new hotspot of COVID-19 facing a daily surge of rapid infections.
