Police officials have suspected that a woman and her four children committed suicide by jumping into the Karnali river.
A woman who along with her four kids jumped into Karnali River in Aathbis Municipality-3 of Dailekh district may have died, Daileh District Police Office, informed.
Of the five, bodies of 14-year-old Kalpana Baduwal and 11-year-old Sarita Baduwal were recovered from the river at Panchadeval Municipality-4 in Achham district, Monday, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anupam Shrestha.
DSP Shrestha said that the bodies of 35-year-old mother Suku Baduwal, eight-year-old son Lalit Baduwal and five-year-old Rajani Baduwal were still missing in the river.
Police said that Suku's husband Mansingh was held on Monday itself and investigations were initiated from the Rakam-based Area Police Office.
Suku along with her kids had headed for her parent's home on Monday morning. Relatives of Baduwal family had initiated a search after they did not reach Suku's parent's home.
However, Deputy Mayor of Aathbis Municipality Dipa Bohara assumed that Suku along with her kids may have jumped into the river being disappointed by her husband, who used to torture and beat her almost every day after consuming alcohol.
