The Nepali Army (NA) has handed over the 18-kilometre road starting from Hawadanda at Dharche rural municipality-7 in Gorkha district to Dobhan at ward no 3 of the same rural municipality.
The road that NA had started constructing on April 24, 2017, under the Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang section was handed over to the local authority on Monday.
NA major Binod Bhatta, chief of the Benighat-Aarughat-Larkebhanjyang Road Construction Task Force, handed over the newly built road to the Chief of the 11-km Chepetar-Bhaluswara-Barpak Road Project, Pashupati Gyawali.
The cabinet meeting held on December 11, 2016, had decided to entrust the NA with responsibility for constructing the road given the geographic remoteness of the place, adverse weather conditions and hard rocky terrain among others.
Now the road was ready and also handed over to the local authority, it will bridge two remote mountainous local levels -Dharche rural municipality and Chunmumbri rural municipality in Gorkha district and link these two local levels with the national road network.
The NA expressed its confidence that the road will 'significantly' contribute to the development of the northern side of the Gorkha district.
