Narayani Hospital in Birgunj, Parsa is becoming comfortable for the treatment of patients from poor and disadvantaged communities. Since the hospital is owned by the federal government, patients are increasing here for treatment.
Information officer Dr. Udayanarayan Singh informed that after the hospital started services such as city scan, dialysis and concessions on treatment expenses for the elderly, the number of patients in the hospital is increasing. Patients from Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Makwanpur district and Bihar region of India come to the hospital for treatment.
According to the hospital administration, an average of 1,000 patients come to the hospital daily for treatment of various diseases. It is said that about 10 to 15 percent of the patients who come for regular treatment are Indian patients.
It has been providing regular treatment services in 200 beds from the hospital and 100 beds from the development committee. On 25 Ashar 2075, the federal government has upgraded the hospital to 500 beds with the aim of providing special services in Madhes province.
Dr. Birendra Bahadur Pradhan, acting medical superintendent of the hospital, informed that after making the treatment service more effective, especially the patients of the poor and disadvantaged communities have increased. The hospital has been providing services to patients through medical, surgery, dental, eye treatment, skin disease, dialysis, nose, ear and throat, mental, maternity, orthopedic, pediatric, infant care, heart disease treatment department, intensive care and oxygen treatment rooms.
The hospital has been providing free treatment to 12 targeted groups of citizens through the social service unit. Information officer of the hospital, Dr. Singh, informed that all kinds of treatment facilities are being provided to the poor, helpless, disabled, senior citizens, victims of gender violence and children, endangered indigenous tribes, malnourished children and martyrs' families. According to Dr. Singh, free treatment is helping many citizens to provide proper treatment services on time. 162 government and 120 development committee health workers are working in the hospital. The hospital was merged in the year 2051 with the then Mahendra Arogya and Aishwarya Bhavan and the current name is Narayani Hospital.
