The meeting of the National Assembly of Karnali Province has not been able to take place since the past two weeks. Though the provincial budget for the next fiscal year 2078/79 was presented at the National Assembly on June 15, further discussions on the budget have not been held yet.
As the lawmakers of the CPN UML have been obstructing the proceedings, the assembly meeting has been already postponed thrice since the day the budget was announced.
Meanwhile, Yamlal Kandel, province parliamentary party leader of CPN UML, mentioned that their agendas had not been addressed at the National Assembly. He added even the provincial government had not bothered to listen to their agendas.
Kandel made these comments today after Speaker of the National Assembly, Raj Bahadur Shahi, started the proceedings. He stated that the provincial assembly had been trying to place CPN UML in both the ruling and opposition status at once.
Intraparty dispute within the CPN UML has deepened after four of its province assembly members who were sacked by the party were reinstated by the Supreme Court.
Today’s meeting of the National Assembly of Karnali Province has been postponed to July 2.
