Parliamentary Party of the Nepali Congress has held discussions with stakeholders on the issues including School Education Bill registered in the House of Representatives and agreement signed between the government and teachers.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General-Secretary Gagan Thapa, Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak, among other lawmakers are present in the meeting taking place in New Baneshwor.
Similarly, Chiefs and representatives of Nepal Teachers Federation, Private and Boarding Schools' Organisation Nepal, Higher Secondary Schools' Association Nepal National Private and Boarding Schools' Organisation Nepal, and Community School Management Committee Federation of Nepal are also present in the discussion.
On the occasion, Chief Whip Lekhak expressed commitment that the NC would play role to revise the School Education Bill on the basis of suggestions of stakeholders.
The Nepal Teachers' Federation had launched protest in Kathmandu from September 20-22 and the Federation withdrew its protest after signing six-point deal with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. However, relief quota teachers are still in protest. The School Education Bill was registered in the House of Representatives on September 13.
