Nepali Congress Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma has said, unity among all parties was imperative to collectively cope with disaster impact. It is the collective responsibility to ensure rescue works and relief distribution during the crisis, he stressed.
Spokesperson Sharma was speaking at a press meet organized at the NC party office in the district on Thursday. He further said unity among all sides was imperative to lift the country out of suffering caused by the disaster.
Sharma inspected the southern belt of Jhapa district hit hard by the floods and inundation due to unexpected post-monsoon rains. He also talked to the flood survivors and assured them that the government would guarantee the rehabilitation of the displaced households and relief materials to those losing family members and homes.
"For the fair implementation of the decision government made for the distribution of relief assistance to the flood and landslide survivors, all three tiers of the government must be equally responsible," he said. He however demanded additional relief from the government.
He committed that NC was always above politics in case of cooperation for coping with disaster and difficulty.
On a different note, Spokesperson Sharma, who is also the central member, commented that UML Chairperson KP Oli's recent view that his party could 'topple government within a week' was ludicrous. The present government led by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba itself holds the coming elections of three tiers of government, Sharma asserted.
