KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to fly the flag at half-mast at the party's central office on Mangsir 3 and 4 in honor of the late former Speaker Damannath Dhungana. The decision was taken at the party’s central committee meeting held on Monday.

Former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana passed away at the age of 83. Dhungana also played a facilitating role in bringing the Maoist armed conflict (1996-2006) to a peace process, according to a press statement issued after the meeting. It adds that the party will always remember the contribution of Dhungana to the strengthening of human rights, justice and the democratic system.
