The Crime Bureau of the Nepal Police has requested the general people not to misuse social networking sites.
Issuing a notice Monday, the Bureau drew the attention towards activities like making indecent videos, photos, publishing and disseminating them to defame others using social network. The Bureau had urged one and all not to carry out such activities and let others do so as well.
Bureau Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police, Nabinda Aryal, said that people have been made aware through a public notice as such activities have been found to have increased during the prohibitory period.
The notice reads that action would be taken against those involved in publishing and disseminating materials against public interest or with the objective of defaming anyone as per the Electronic Transaction Act-2063 BS.
Meanwhile, 3,966 vehicles were impounded for violating the prohibitory order in the last 24 hours and their drivers released after making them aware of the act, according to the Police Headquarters.
Similarly, masks were distributed to 542 people free of cost in the last 24 hours under the ‘Where is your mask?’ initiative run by Nepal Police.
