The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Thursday confirmed the detection of 197 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 823,554. Additionally, 14 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded two deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Thursday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,549. Presently, there are 6,105 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 100 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 64 cases, Lalitpur logged 28 cases and Bhaktapur logged eight cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 329 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, a total of 805,900 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.8 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.
Earlier, the MoHP Wednesday had reported 255 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 823,357.
As of Thursday, a total of 4,696,366 people have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 6,105 people staying in isolation while 97 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
Meanwhile, 3,518,328 people have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccines and 2,177,711 have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 7,274,755 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 5,279,278 others have received the second dose as of December 6, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Likewise, a total of 53,836 persons — 5,969 in Province 1; 6,871 in Province 2; 26,416 in Bagmati Province; 3,391 in Gandaki Province; 5,300 in Lumbini Province, 2,187 in Karnali Province, and 3,702 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with Pfizer vaccines. Meanwhile, 1,601,593 citizens have been inoculated with Janssen and Janssen vaccines across the country.
