Phurwa Sherpa from Nepal has won the Wanderlust World Guide Award.
He was given the award for walking and outdoor activities.
Phurba Sherpa was born and raised in Lukla, the gateway to the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. In 2012 he started working as a porter with Intrepid Travel. He was promoted to Assistant Guide in 2016. His hard work improved his language and communication skills.
Phurba soon started leading groups in different parts of Nepal. Furba dedicates time to helping assistant guides and porters improve their careers and become safe and responsible leaders. His local work in the community to protect culture, wildlife and communities is further evidence of his compassionate nature.
