Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said Nepal's prosperity was possible through the means of quality education.
Inaugurating the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Nepal University Teachers' Association here Thursday, the PM said that the professors should remain proactive with additional responsibilities to produce skilled and qualified human resources by making the country's higher education sector trouble-free.
"The students to are required to move ahead by embracing the education of the modern age. Attention should be paid to handover knowledge and skills to the new generation through the promotion of our traditional knowledge, skills, religion, culture, philosophy, music, and protection and promotion of literature along with reforms in higher education. I am confident that Nepal's professors and students would remain active on this issue in future," PM Deuba shared.
PM Deuba was of the view that the country's overall development was possible only if the talents and expertise of the professors were fully utilised and considering this fact the government was committed to supporting the professional development of professors while ensuring their rights.
Stressing the need for mutual consultations and dialogue to combat the challenges of the universities, the PM called for the constructive role of the Association as well.
PM Deuba, who is also the Chancellor of the Tribhuvan University, said the university should incorporate the latest knowledge and technology in its curriculum to produce competitive human resources in the global market.
He stated that the role of the professors and students who played a crucial role in the restoration of democracy and for the cause of a democratic republic has changed in the recent days adding that their role is to make university education more qualitative and competitive
