Nepal will be the leading country in South Asia in freedom of expression: Communications Minister Karki

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that the current government has given high priority to freedom of expression.

 Speaking at a press conference organized at the Ministry today to announce the decision of the cabinet meeting held on March 10, Minister Karki, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said that the government was working to establish Nepal as a leading country in South Asia in freedom of expression.

 In response to a question from a media person, he clarified that the new arrangement related to YouTube was an attempt to make it more systematic and dignified but freedom of expression should not be curtailed. "We want to build a civilized and beautiful society," he said. The present government will not bring any law that would restrict the freedom of expression and the laws brought in the past will also be amended as required. ”

 He said that visits were being made to various countries to introduce Nepal to the world and to spread the message that the government was working in the interest of the people. Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Uday Raj Sapkota led a delegation from Nepal to participate in the fourth session of the Intergovernmental Conference on the Convention on the Law of the Sea, Conservation of Biodiversity and Sustainable Use outside the National Jurisdiction to be held from March 7 to 18, 2022 Has decided to approve.

 Likewise, the delegation led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has been approved to participate in the 36th Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of Asia and the Pacific to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from March 8 to 11, 2022.

 Similarly, a delegation led by the Foreign Minister has been formed for bilateral talks on the occasion of the visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister to Nepal from March 12 to March 20, said Minister Karki.

 According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been given the authority to sign the agreement on behalf of Nepal by approving the draft cooperation agreement between Nepal and Saudi Arabia. The meeting also gave approval to Secretary Dr. Perm Narayan Kandel to participate in the Strategic Preparatory Meeting on Involvement among Least Developed Countries to be held in New York, USA on April 30.

 The cabinet also decided to allow a delegation led by Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Krishna Kumar Shrestha to visit the United Arab Emirates, Seychelles and Qatar.
