Lawyers representing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota, have started placing their arguments before the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court, in Kathmandu, on July 4, 2021.

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order not to dissolve the Land Related Problems Resolution Commission for immediate effect. A single bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada made such an order on Monday. The order has been issued asking to keep land-related records and management-related issues including physical properties in the status quo without changing or transforming the status. Both sides have been invited for extensive talks on August 17 citing the sensitivity and seriousness of the disputed issue.

Legal practitioner Mahesh Bhattarai, Prabesh KC, and others had lodged a petition on behalf of the dissolved Commission naming Office of the Prime Ministers and Council of Minister, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, and others as defendants.

The petitioners have asked for an order to revoke the government decided to dissolve the Commission made on August 3.
