Despite running a vaccination campaign against COVID in the district of Rukum, the targeted people have not visited the vaccination centres as expected.
Information Officer at the Health Office in East Rukum Nim Prasad Giri said they were having difficulties with the absence of the target population despite sufficient stock of vaccines.
The target population for the COVID-19 vaccine in the district is 45,369 but so far 33,551 (73%) received the first dose while 29,501 (65.02%) received the second dose of vaccine.
In Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality, only 8,130 persons received both shots against COVID-19 against the target population of 15,487, said Giri.
Likewise, a total of 10,430 persons got the vaccine out of the 18,813 target population in Bhume Rural Municipality.
In Sisne Rural Municipality, 10,982 persons received the second dose of COVID vaccine out of a total 14,068 target population, the Health Office said.
Currently, the Office is running the vaccination drive to provide first, second, and booster doses in Sisne and Bhume. However, the vaccination drive has not advanced in Putha Uttarganga as people did not turn up the vaccination centre.
