People representatives and employees of Beni Municipality have donated oxygen concentrators to the district hospital. They contributed half a month's salary to purchase five sets of oxygen concentrators for the Beni hospital, providing treatment to COVID-19 patients.
Deputy Mayor Sanju Baruwal and chief administrative officer Chabi Lal Subedi handed over the equipment worth 480,000 rupees to the chairperson of the hospital management committee Bel Bahadur Katwal on Friday. This will help the COVID-19 patients who have breathing difficulties admitted to the hospital, said Katwal.
The people's representatives and employees will continue to provide similar support in the future, chief administrative officer Subedi said.
The municipality has set up a 20-bed capacity isolation centre in the hospital with an investment of 700,000 rupees. It has also set up a pre-isolation centre at the old building of mount Everest school, collecting swabs for testing and providing free transportation for the COVID-19 patients to go to the hospital and home after discharge.
The people's representatives have also been doing a door-to-door visit to check on those in home isolation and boost their morale.
Meanwhile, Mount Heart Nepal has donated medical supplies worth Rs. 1.2 million to Malika rural municipality of the district. It includes seven oxygen concentrators, voltage regulators, and other goods.
Earlier, the organization had donated two oxygen concentrators to the Jomsom hospital in Mustang and two each to seven local level units in the district.
