People's representatives have expressed their anger over the delay in the construction of the rural postal route. Morang chief district officer Kashiraj Dahal has also expressed his anger when the builders who took the contract after completing the rules, laws and procedures did not do the development work within the agreed time frame.
The speakers who participated in the discussion on the progress details of the project and the identification of problems held today in Biratnagar by the planning office of the Directorate of Postal Highways in Itahari expressed their anger. A total of 335 km of roads should be constructed under the authority of Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa and Saptari districts. The office had called for contracts for a total of Rs 16 billion in FY 2066-67 for the construction of 168 km north-south road connected to Hulaki Highway from Mahendra Highway and 167 km east-west road from Jhapa to Saptari.
Although all the work should be completed in the month of November of the current financial year, the builders have completed work worth Rs. He said that it is natural for the people's representatives and administrators to express their anger as they have not completed the work on various pretexts even though they have instructed the builders to complete the work several times.
He said that even though the builders are demanding to extend the time by one more year, the office cannot do anything about it but will inform the department. Apart from North-South, 48 km in Jhapa, 44 km in Morang, 26 km in Sunsari and 46 km in Saptari are incomplete. Pramod Khatiwada, engineer of the office, informed that a bridge should be constructed along with the road and the contract for this has been awarded at the same time, so far 24 bridges have been built and 26 bridges are under construction.
He informed that about 26 construction companies have contracted to build all the roads and bridges in the work area. Chief District Officer Dahal said that the builders will be instructed to complete the construction work within the time limit and if there is any problem, efforts will be made to solve it. Provincial Assembly Member Vijay Biswas said that the builders who are unable to work, why they demolished the road, now if the construction is delayed, the people will also raise their voice. . Dilip Bagdia, head of Rangeli Municipality of Morang, expressed his anger saying that the people are suffering because of the builders who are building at Kuchuwa Lake and why should they take the contract because they cannot work.
Chairman of Katahari rural municipality, Devraj Chaudhary, said that the work should not be stopped under any pretext, and asked to inform immediately if there is any problem or if someone disturbs the work area. Construction professionals Deepak Thing, Deepak Gautam and Saroj Rai expressed their commitment to complete the work within the next one year.
