People who are 18 years old will also be able to vote till the day before the local level election.
It has been decided to hold the local level election on 13 May. According to the commission, those who have reached the age of 18 by 12 May can participate in the polls.
Commission spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said that those who have reached the age of 18 by the day before the election will also be able to cast their vote as the constitution provides for the inclusion of the name of every Nepali person who has attained the age of 18 in the final voters' list.
Spokesperson Sharma said that it is estimated that there will be 17.9 million voters. It is also estimated that around two lakh youths will be able to exercise their voting right.
The Election Commission (EC) has started registering parties for the local level election.
