Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has pledged to complete all remaining work of post-quake reconstruction.
In a message on the 25th National Earthquake Safety Day which is marked on the second day of the month of Magh in the lunar calendar, Prime Minister Dahal has asserted that his government's foremost priorities were the construction of earthquake-resilient infrastructures and to move ahead with uniformity in policy and practice.
"All policies and legal provisions put in place by the State regarding the construction of earthquake-resilient infrastructures would be strictly implemented," reaffirmed Dahal.
The government has been observing the National Earthquake Safety Day on Magh 2 of the Nepali month every year in memory of the massive earthquake that occurred in 1990 BS and thereby to spread awareness about earthquake safety methods.
The Head of the Government, on the occasion, appealed to all Nepalis for early preparedness for earthquakes and to be familiar with building earthquake-resistant infrastructures, and early warning of disaster among others.
"I am confident that this Day would inspire us to build modern, quality, and quake-resilient infrastructures and would impart an important message and social awareness," said the PM.
He recalled that during his second stint as Prime Minister, he had considered increasing the reconstruction grant by Rs 100,000 and made sure that there was transparency and the public was updated about the post-quake reconstruction works among others.
According to him, among other important works undertaken during his second tenure as the PM was adding Rs 50,000 for retrofitting the houses prone to quake, enabling an environment for collaboration and expediting reconstruction works.
