The Economic Media Association of Nepal (EMAN) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', demanding the government to recognize media as service- an oriented industry. A delegation led by EMAN Chair Royal Acharya reached the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar and submitted the memorandum on Thursday. EMAN also urged the government to amend the necessary laws to facilitate publishing the information relating to banks and financial institutions as well as the information as per Public Procurement Act in the online media. The government was further requested to recognize media as an industry and to make systematic the advertisement distribution of state-owned agencies, including the Securities Board of Nepal, Nepal Stock Exchange, Nepal Telecom, and Rastriya Banijya Bank. EMAN Vice-Chair Madhav Prasad Tiwari said they urged the government to forward suggestions and directions to the Finance Ministry for the special discount on income tax of the economic-related media through the coming budget. On the occasion, Prime Minister Dahal assured the delegation of taking initiative because of the suggestions and genuine recommendations.
