CPN (UML) Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has again urged the lawmakers on behalf of the party to vote in favour of the prime minister in the vote of confidence to be held in the House of Representatives (HoR) today.
The Lower House of the Federal Parliament is sitting for a special session at 1 pm today for the vote of confidence motion that the prime minister has sought.
PM Oli, his Twitter post this morning, has drawn the attention of all the parliamentarians that internal disagreements or dissatisfactions, if any, could be resolved through mutual discussions and that it would not be appropriate to go for any improper decision in a hurry in such a situation.
"Come, let's sit together and discuss if there are any problems, and resolve them," PM Oli has tweeted.
Meanwhile, the CPN UML has decided to take action against those parliamentarians of the party who do not attend the special session of the HoR today. A source close to PM Oli said that the party will initiate action against the parliamentarians who go against the party whip and do not attend the session. Earlier today, lawmakers of the Nepal faction of CPN UML had said they would neither resign nor attend the parliamentary session that is scheduled for 1 pm today.
Bishal Bhattarai, Chief Whip of the CPN UML, mentioned that the party will take action against those parliamentarians who go against the party whip. He further stated that going against the party whip is a big crime in a parliamentary system. Bhattarai added that the nature of the action against such parliamentarians will be decided by the party at a later date. However, he shared that he believed that the concerned parliamentarians would attend the HoR session today.
Bhattarai had issued a whip on Sunday asking the parliamentarians affiliated with the party to vote in favour of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
