Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel has inspected the Madin River Lifting Drinking Water Project today. The project is nearing completion with 70 % investment from the Government of Nepal and 30 % from Bhadgaon Drinking Water Corporation.
After inspecting the project, Poudel stressed on the need to provide access to drinking water to the general consumers as soon as possible. He also expressed his commitment to always be there for any assistance during the construction. Minister for Internal Affairs of Gandaki Dowate BK stressed on the need of providing all possible assistance from the consumers, working committee and construction companies from their respective areas as the project is a matter of pride. Deputy Chief of Beas Municipality Indira Darai expressed confidence that the project would play an important role in providing adequate drinking water to the people of Wadawasi.
The project, which is being constructed at a total cost of Rs. 152.43 million, was contracted by Parajuli Construction Company. Secretary of the Bhadgaon Karadi Khirkhandi Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumers Committee, Rajeshwor Hadkhale, informed that water is being brought from a distance of about five kilometers from the bank of Madi River in Beas Municipality-4 to Amili Bhanyang of Beas Municipality-1. Ishwor Shrestha, manager of the committee, said that an agreement has been signed with the construction company to complete the construction of the project by August 2023 AD.
The construction process of the project was started after Bhadgaon Karadi Khirkhandi Drinking Water Project was selected among 10 other drinking water projects in Nepal. Chairman of the organization Chij Bahadur Darai said that the water collected from four schemes and projects is being distributed to the consumers. The drinking water institution was established in 1999 AD and started from 52 public taps. So far, more than 2600 private taps are being connected and water is being distributed.
