Saraswati Pradhan who had been arrested by police and had to stay in custody for three days after Rupa Sunar, a journalist, filed a charge against Pradhan stating that she had refused to rent a room in her house to Sunar due to caste issues has lodged a complaint at the National Human Rights Commission.
In her complaint, Pradhan has accused Sunar of recording their conversation without prior consent which is against the right to individual freedom. She has also alleged that Sunar had not visited her home to actually rent any room but had come looking for a room with mala fide intention.
Pradhan has mentioned that a verbal agreement had already been made to rent out two rooms for Rs 12,000 a month and it was Sunar who took out the issue of caste. She has also said that Sunar had left after telling her that she would have to first show the rooms to her mother.
Pradhan has sought action not only against Sunar but also her two friends who had accompanied her to look for the room.
