President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed the need for cooperation among the governments of all countries and civil society activities to raise collective voices against violence against women (VAW) stating that VAW is a social issue in the world.
At a meeting with the national and international delegations attending the South Asian Women Conference being held in Kathmandu, President Bhandari praised the organisation of this regional event after the outbreak of COVID-19 and exchange of ideas on this issue.
According to Communications expert Tika Dhakal, President Bhandari wished that may the objectives and motto of the conference be fulfilled.
Informing about the programme and activities of the campaign, Bandana Shiva, pioneer of the women's movement in India, spoke about how we could end violence against women by forging a common voice in South Asia.
Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun inaugurated the conference jointly organized by the National Women's commission, National Human Rights Commission, 'Every Women', an NGO today morning.
