President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday inaugurated the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Mithila Culutre Centre.

Building construction of the Centre was initiated 23 years ago.

After the inauguration of the conference hall of the Centre, President Paudel termed the late Nidhi as a democratic warrior and symbol of non-violence and integrity.

Getting opportunity to inaugurate the building established under the name of late Nidhi is a matter of pride, the President said.

Likewise, son of late Nidhi and NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi expressed pleasure for the construction of the building and added that the project completion materialized the dream of his family and the then Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.

The NC leader Nidhi urged one and all to take benefit from the conference hall and termed that the infrastructure would help contribute in promoting non-violence, peace and Mithila culture.

On the occasion, Urban Development Minister Sita Gurung recalled the unparalleled contribution of late Nidhi in Nepal's democratic movement and hoped that the conference hall would be crucial in development of culture and economic wellbeing there.

Minister Gurung said that the province and local governments should take maximum benefits from the infrastructure though the federal ministry built the property.

Spread over two bigha of land, the conference hall was constructed with the investment of Rs 122.4 million.

Construction of the conference hall started in 2057 BS after late Nidhi's spouse Prem Sagari Devi laid foundation for the construction.

The newly-constructed building constitutes a meeting hall with the capacity of 540 individuals, a conference hall to accommodate 200 individuals, a library building, museum block and other properties.
