Press Organisation Nepal, has demanded the reinstatement of issuing a 19-point Kathmandu Declaration and pledged to stand firmly against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
The gathering also made the determination to make an alliance with all media-related organisations that are in favour of the constitution, protection of press and right to expression, rights of working journalists and media welfare.
Similarly, the gathering also expressed sorrow over the recent warning statement of Supreme Court mentioning the name of media over the news. It also asked the government to bring special relief package for COVID-19 affected media persons and media houses into implementation immediately.
Coordinator of the Organisation, Maheshwor Dahal, said that the organisation also urged the concerned bodies to give priority to local and small-scale media as well as local media in a local advertisement for the promotion of self-employed media, to make arrangement of registration, renewal of media, payment of advertisement amount, distribution of press pass and insurance from the local level.
The gathering also expressed concern over non-implementation of 50 per cent discount programme in treatment expenditure to journalists at government hospitals on the basis of press pass of Department of Information as it was mentioned in the government's policy and programme.
It also decided to organise a gathering of the Press organisation in all provinces within February 12 keeping the difficult political condition of the country and upcoming election of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
