People with disabilities and senior citizens will be put on high priority during voting for the elections to the House of Representatives and the Province Assembly today, according to the Election Commission.
"Facilitated by election employees, such people will not have to be in a queue to cast their votes," said polling officer Ram Kumar Paudel, who has been assigned at a polling center at Kathmandu constituency-6.
Stating that voting rights have been guaranteed to all people including differently-abled people and senior citizens, he informed that political parties and candidates have made arrangements for the facilitation accordingly.
Rajendra Kumar Chhetri, who is running from Kathmandu constituency-10 under the House of Representatives from the Nepali Congress, said arrangements were in place to facilitate differently-abled people and senior citizens. "Volunteers have been deployed to facilitate them by managing wheelchairs and vehicles during the voting."
Similarly, Niresh Lal Singh Maharjan, who is contesting from Kathmandu constituency-6 (1) from the CPN (UML) said arrangements had been made for easing them as directed by the EC to make polling centers and stations friendly to the disabled people and senior citizens.
