Relief for COVID victims' family

Gandaki state government has started distributing Rs 5,000 monthly relief to the children who have lost their parents due to COVID-19. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Social Development had included the provision of monthly relief in the current year's budget program for the education of the children who lost their parents due to the deadly virus.

The Ministry of Social Development has compiled the procedure and collected the data of the children and handed over the money on Thursday. Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel had handed over the relief money. The government is going to provide Rs 60,000 per person per year for children under 18. Minister for Culture, Science, Technology and Social Development Mekhlal Shrestha said that relief was distributed to 60 children out of 39 people who died in the first phase. According to him, out of 170 names received in the ministry, eight have reached the age of 18 and out of the remaining 162, 102 applications are yet to be completed as per the criteria.

The ministry said that the remaining documents have been demanded and then relief money will be provided to them. Secretary at the Ministry, Binod Bahadur Kunwar, informed that the ministry demanded documents including PCR report of parents who died due to COVID, relief documents in case of death in health institution or hospital, recommendation of ward office, recommendation of school for studying in school and details of current guardianship.
