Republic of Zambia has appointed Desh Bandhu Basnet, a Nepali businessman, as Zambia’s Honorary Consul to Republic of Zambia in Nepal.
Her Excellency Judith KK Kan’goma Kapijimpanga, Ambassador of Zambia to India, announced the appointment in a special ceremony held at the Embassy in India. HE Desh Bandhu Basnet’s jurisdiction will be over Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur) and he will handle the consular and economic issues on behalf of the Republic of Zambia. Ambassador Kapijimpanga handed over all legal and related items to operate an office, including national flag, official seal, among others to Basnet.
The appointment will help to promote and strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and Zambia. It will also act as a catalyst in promoting and smoothening trade relations, investment and tourism. The new Honorary Consul Office will help in developing a strategic partnership between the two countries.
Basnet is associated with various national and international associations. He is an Executive Committee Member at Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Chairperson of the Bi-National NRN Coordinator (FNCCI). He is also an Executive Committee Member of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI).
