A request to make the agricultural census a success has been made as it is important for Nepal's economy. The District-Level Agricultural Census Awareness Seminar organized by Bagmati Province Agriculture Census Office, Hetauda today has requested the concerned agencies to provide correct and reliable basis as the contribution of the agriculture sector is important in formulating plans and policies for the economic development of the country.
As the counting will be done at the doorsteps of the farmers from April 20 to May 30, it has been emphasized to raise the necessary publicity and public awareness. Agriculture census has been conducted every ten years since 2018 BS. Agriculture Census Officer Rajesh Das informed that the elected representatives of 753 local level villages, municipalities, sub-metropolitans, and metropolitans under the seventy-seven districts will meet the farmers of the wards and collect details related to agriculture.
Presenting the report on the agricultural census at the awareness seminar, he said that the data obtained from it would help in the development of the agricultural sector envisaged by the government. According to Deputy Chief of Hetauda Metropolitan City, Meena Lama, data collection of the entire agricultural sector was necessary to make Nepal's agriculture business-oriented and export-oriented. Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey stressed the effectiveness of monitoring for accurate statistics as the majority of the people of Nepal is engaged in agriculture.
In addition to household and community-based agriculture, data on government, semi-government, cooperative, and institutionalized commercial agricultural work will also be collected in the agricultural census this year. The Bagmati Provincial Agriculture Census Office has been established in Hetauda on March 20.
