The father and son who have been trapped in the snow for five days, could not be rescued in Mikwakhola VDC-5 of Taplejung. Helicopters of Altitude Air Company went for the rescue twice on Sunday and Saturday morning but could not do so as they could not identify the place due snowfall.
Lakpa Tasi, aged 50-55, and his 14-year son Pasang Sherpa who were stuck due to the avalanche while moving to a place called Lonak in Papung at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level, are now staying in a cave for safety. "We can not get the, out due to the situation right now," said Dandu Sherpa, ward chairman of Mikwakhola-5.
Lakpa had requested Sherpa to send a helicopter for the rescue after reaching out through a phone call. Chief District Officer of Taplejung, Umesh Pandey, said that the helicopter returned to Suketar empty-handed after the whereabouts of the father and son as they could not fix the father and son's location.
Pandey said that he had requested the two to light a fire after a phone call so that it would be easy to identify their exact location.
