A rhino has been found dead in the tunnel river of Chitwan National Park. The rhino died after fighting another rhino in a tunnel river east of Tiger-Tops area inside the park.
According to Haribhadra Acharya, chief conservation officer of the park, the male rhinoceros is estimated to be 16-17 years old. While fighting with another rhino, the rhino was chased and fell from the cliff and reached the river.
He said that preliminary information has been received that rhino horns and hooves are safe. Besides, 23 rhinos have died in the park in the current fiscal year. Of these, two were poached, two died from human errors and 19 died of natural causes.
