Nepali Congress central committee member Dr Shekhar Koirala has said the role of the Koshi Province Assembly Speaker should be neutral in the formation of the provincial government.
He said this while talking to the media persons at Biratnagar Airport today. "The Speaker giving his support in the government formation as a member of the Province Assembly might create a difficult situation in the future," he opined.
Stating that there is obviously the number game in a parliamentary system in the formation of the government, NC leader Koirala stressed on grappling with such ups and downs and moving ahead on the basis of the parliamentary and constitutional contracts.
He said the Nepali Congress is a party that believed in the principle of moving ahead as per the democratic system, parliamentary practices and the constitution.
"There is the possibility of the opposition party, the CPN (UML), knocking on the court's door over the manner the Koshi provincial government was formed. We should all accept the court's decision," he said.
On a different note, he said the nation can be taken forward on the path of development and prosperity only by ending impunity and ridding the society free of corruption.
Answering a question, leader Koirala said the present coalition government should be continued and further strengthened without opting for an alternative coalition.
