KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to pause its current protests regarding the arrest of Chairman Rabi Lamichhane until the conclusion of the Chhath festival.
Although Lamichhane remains in custody, the party intends to resume its protests in Kaski afterward.
DP Aryal, the movement's coordinator and RSP Vice Chairman, explained that demonstrations outside Kaski have been halted to prioritize the Tihar and Chhath celebrations.
He noted, "Our members have suggested that a sit-in will occur in Kaski even on Bhaitika day. However, protests in other districts, including Kathmandu, will be on hold until after Chhath."
Aryal also mentioned that supporters would still convey their messages through Deusi Bhaili performances during the festivities, emphasizing that the movement cannot be completely stopped.
Additionally, he confirmed that RSP supporters would continue campaigning against Lamichhane’s arrest through Deusi Bhaili activities.
Lamichhane was apprehended for alleged misappropriation of cooperative funds, prompting ongoing protests in Kaski, Kathmandu, and other regions nationwide.
