It has been found that certain textbooks that have been provided to students still include the old map of Nepal. Moreover, complaints have started pouring in that the maximum retail price of the textbooks has not been properly displayed. The government had earlier issued a notice asking all publishers to publish school textbooks with the new map of Nepal and also directed bookshops not to sell textbooks that still include the old map of Nepal.
After learning that some private publishing houses had published textbooks that still included the old map of Nepal, Minister Shrestha had directed the Curriculum Development Centre to seize such books.
Minister Shrestha had asked the concerned authorities to start monitoring and if they came across any such books to take help of the police and initiate action immediately against publishers and sellers.
The Curriculum Development Centre has said that the textbooks that still include the old map of Nepal were likely published before the direction given by the education minister.
