In a sad event last night, seven patients lost their lives due to lack of oxygen supply in one of the biggest government hospitals in Gandaki Province. The deceased, who included a pregnant woman and six coronavirus patients, died in Western Regional Hospital.
As the oxygen supply was completely halted for an hour from 9 pm to 10 pm yesterday, the patients who were receiving treatment through high-flow oxygen process and on ventilators lost their lives. The Western Regional Hospital falls under the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences.
Dr David Shrestha, Consultant Surgeon and focal person for medical isolation at the hospital, said that five patients who were in the medical isolation ward and two who were admitted to the decatting isolation unit of the hospital had died since last night till this morning.
