A seven-point agreement has been reached to upgrade Kailali's Geta Airport as a regional airport. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale, Airport Chief Ram Krishna Bhatt, and Getraj Airport Construction and Settlement Management Coordinating Committee Coordinator Lokraj Bhatt reached a seven-point agreement on Wednesday.
Compensation should be arranged within the next two years by ensuring necessary resources for land acquisition and upgrading within the Fiscal Year 2078/79 for upgrading and land acquisition of the airport. It has been agreed that participation will be ensured by inviting one or two members of the Development Committee and the Coordinating Committee.
Until the distribution of such compensation is completed, there will be no obstruction in the use of houses and land. Chief of Geta Airport Bhatta informed that they have agreed not to obstruct. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has allocated Rs. 1.15 billion for the upgrade of the airport and land acquisition.
The survey work has moved ahead after Minister Ale, who is also the chairman of the steering committee of the Civil Aviation Authority, approved the master plan to acquire 258.25 bighas of land to develop Geta as a regional airport. It is said that the technical team of the consulting company has started the survey work from the drone for upgrading the airport.
